Case Study: Projection Mapping on the Zeitz MOCAA Silos at V&A Waterfront

The Silos 3D Projection, produced for the Young President’s Organisation on 7 March at Zeitz MOCAA, transformed Thomas Heatherwick’s iconic silos into a dynamic canvas. Fabian Humphry, the creative lead, designed animations that highlighted the building’s cylindrical geometry, making it feel alive. The visuals were carefully crafted to complement the architecture while interacting with aerial performers, adding a unique, multidimensional layer to the show.

The projection spanned nearly 1,200 square meters, running in 4K across nine high-powered projectors. The content was mapped in 3D to the silos’ curves, creating seamless visual effects that played with perception and scale. Despite challenging winds of up to 75 km/h, the aerial performers executed their routines safely, enhancing the immersive experience.

Our work extends beyond buildings and flat surfaces and buildings to launches for the automotive market. When Ferrari approached us to introduce their latest model to the South African market, they gave us full creative freedom to design something extraordinary.

We illuminated the vehicle with dynamic visuals that showcased the full range of colour options while highlighting details of its design. 3D effects transported the audience on a journey through diverse landscapes, from sun-drenched coastal roads to dramatic mountain passes, bringing the Ferrari to life and creating an emotional connection between the vehicle and its future owners.

Case Study: Aramco International

For Aramco, the world’s largest oil producer and Saudi Arabia’s national oil company, we created an immersive projection mapping experience at the Zeitz MOCAA courtyard in Cape Town. Drawing inspiration from Aramco’s brand identity, we developed animated wave graphics that visualized the company’s vast supply chain, journeying from Saudi Arabian deserts across oceans and mountains to culminate at South Africa’s iconic Table Mountain. The installation transformed their corporate logo into dynamic African-inspired line work, celebrating the continent while incorporating futuristic circuit visuals and Saudi landmarks. Fenty Beauty made a bold statement for its African debut, transforming Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton with large-scale projection mapping across its iconic façade. Located in the heart of Johannesburg’s premier lifestyle destination, the square – home to the famous six-meter bronze statue of Nelson Mandela – served as a stunning canvas for Rihanna’s vision.

The three-day activation brought the square’s architecture to life with 3D projection mapping, showcasing the brand’s “Beauty for All” ethos through bold visuals and campaign imagery. Case Study: Adidas Urban Projection in Johannesburg

A large Johannesburg mall building was brought to life for the the adidas x Rich Mnisi collaboration. The activation transformed the architecture into a dynamic canvas, strategically utilizing different facets as individual “screens” for multi-dimensional storytelling. Working with creative designers MORE REAL collective, each surface showcased distinct content: vibrant Tsonga-inspired patterns, bold animal prints, and striking abstract designs. For Mandela’s 2018 centenary, we transformed Cape Town City Hall where he delivered his freedom speech, into a living narrative through 3D projection mapping. Using his actual speech as our foundation, we gave physical form to his metaphors: jacarandas blooming across the facade, animals roaming free, prison bars crashing over the audience. The 50m × 25m architectural animation moved chronologically through imprisonment to celebration, making the building itself a character in the story.
