V&A Waterfront | Silo Hotel & Zeitz MOCAA

Preferred supplier

Cape Lasers remain’s the go-to supplier for projections on the V&A Waterfront buildings.

Zeitz MOCAA Silos

The silos are a truly iconic landmark of Cape Town, situated in one of the highest market value foot traffic areas in the city.Surrounded by various restaurants, this fifty metre wide by thirty metre tall structure formed part of the original grain silos prior to being developed into the museum.
With the help of advanced projection technology, Cape Lasers is able to light up the facade with imagery and 3D immersive projection mapping.

Port Captain’s Building

While smaller than the silos, the trading post offers a fantastic location for advertising imagery, located between the VA waterfront and the silo district. The projection can be viewed from the clock tower and also along a swing bridge. The building can be projected on across the water, creating a beautiful reflection effect. We are actively projecting on this landmark for clients and can assist you with both technical and creative execution.

Zeitz MOCAA Upper Courtyard

  • Client must have booked the Zeitz MOCAA upstairs venue in order to project in the courtyard
  • The upper courtyard is situated on the top floor of the museum and looks over the city and the waterfront with breathtaking views. The courtyard forms part of the venue hire of the top floor, which is available for clients to rent, and offers an incredible opportunity to do unique 3D projected shows and presentations customized to clients’ needs. We regularly project on the three silos at the back of the courtyard and our clients are always amazed by the quality and end result.

Our first show was in 2017 for the Young President’s Organisation. We continue to this day to light up buildings at the V&A.

Generally we prefer a setup day, but it depends on the scope and complexity of the projection. We have done same-day setups for the Zeitz MOCAA upper courtyard and Port Captain’s Building in the past. We will always try to meet a client’s logistics constraints.

Port Captain’s Building – no restrictions we are aware of, but content must be approved by V&A first
Zeitz MOCAA upper courtyard – no restrictions (part of client’s venue space)
Silo Hotel / Zeitz MOCAA Main Silos – The venue does not allow purely promotional imagery being shown on the Zeitz MOCAA silos as it’s a functioning art gallery. However, the venue is open to a creative projection mapping show being displayed with the client’s branding. We can assist clients with building a show that is creative-first.
